Our Startup Tour is back!

After inspiring visits in Copenhagen, Barcelona, Munich etc. … our trip this semester took us to the German startup metropolis Berlin.
Sit back, relax, and join us on an exciting journey through Berlin’s startup scene!

Day 1 + The Evening Before: A Great Kickoff

After a smooth train ride, we kicked off the first evening with a cozy pizza dinner and met up with former members of our association.
The exchange across the different generations of our association was a great opportunity to share experiences and old memories. Thanks for being there!

The next day we headed straight to our first startup: CleanHub.
CleanHub is committed to clean oceans by building waste collection systems in coastal communities. Their approach combines environmental protection and social responsibility by helping local communities manage plastic waste sustainably and prevent marine pollution.
CleanHub showed us how important entrepreneurship is also when it comes to sustainability!

In the afternoon our tour took us to Cavalry Ventures, a leading VC from Berlin.
Founded in 2016, they focus on early‑stage startups, mainly in tech – from
pre‑seed to the growth stage. With over €150 million in their portfolio, they have invested in companies such as Forto, McMakler, and PlanRadar.
On site we got the chance to analyze and evaluate a startup pitch deck from an investor’s perspective. That gave us valuable insight into a VC’s decision‑making process.

Day 2: Digitalization and Innovative Learning Platforms

On the second day our journey led us to Mercanis, a B2B startup that develops software solutions for corporate procurement. The startup helps medium‑sized and large companies optimize their purchasing processes, which is especially important for scaling businesses.
Mercanis made it clear that automation and digital tools will become increasingly important for companies in the future!

In the afternoon we continued to Knowunity, an innovative learning platform for students that makes learning social and interactive. Knowunity aims to make education simpler and more accessible – a revolutionary idea at a time when digital education is gaining more and more importance. The platform is built super simply and uses a content strategy reminiscent of formats like Instagram and YouTube.
Knowunity’s approach shows how huge the impact of digitalization on our education system can be!

Day 3: The Future of Cheese and Tech Investments

The third day took us to Formo, a startup that wants to revolutionize the market for animal‑free cheese. Using micro‑fermentation, Formo produces vegan cheese that aims to drastically reduce the environmental impact of the dairy industry.
The highlight of our visit was the “Cheese Tasting” of the newest products – and the result was truly impressive!
Formo’s cheese tastes like real cheese, but without any animal ingredients.

The finale of our trip was our visit to Iris Capital, a VC that specializes in technology in Europe and can look back on over 30 years of experience. Iris Capital supports startups from the early growth phase all the way to expansion. On site we had the opportunity to talk directly with the investors and gain valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities for startups in Europe.

Day 4: Berlin – Three Intensive Days Full of Impressions!

A huge thank you to all the startups & VCs we got to visit.
We really appreciate your hospitality and wish you continued great success on your journey!
